Spanish Innovation Shines at Propak Asia 2024
Jun 20 24

Propak Asia 2024, the premier packaging event in Southeast Asia, took place from June 12 to 15 in Bangkok. This well-established event is a critical gathering point for the key industry players across the region. It attracted a significant audience primarily from Thailand, with robust participation from Malaysia and Indonesia, and other neighboring countries, showcasing its expansive regional influence.

Networking and International Collaboration

The Spanish Pavilion was particularly notable for its display of advanced technologies and innovative solutions from seven leading Spanish companies: Venair, Effytec, Bonals, Macsa ID, Invpack, Tecaire, and Ferlo. These companies exemplified the innovative spirit and technological leadership that underscore Spain’s presence in the global packaging and processing industries.

The exhibition offered an excellent platform for networking, and the public showed a keen interest in connecting with the Spanish firms. Although it will take some time to see if these interactions translate into positive outcomes, the presence of Spain at the fair was significant. Alongside other European pavilions from Italy, France, Switzerland, and Germany, Spain explored avenues of collaboration, highlighting its role as a relevant actor in the industry.

Local Engagement and Sector Insights

During the event, the representative from the Spanish Pavilion had the opportunity to meet with local entities and associations from the packaging and food processing sectors. These interactions provided valuable insights into the local market dynamics and helped identify potential areas for collaboration and innovation. Engaging with these local partners has opened new pathways for Spanish companies to integrate more deeply into the Southeast Asian market, leveraging local expertise and networks.

Supporting Spanish Investment and Trade in Thailand

In collaboration with AMEC ENVASGRAF, the Spanish Embassy and the Office of Commerce in Thailand play pivotal roles in supporting Spanish businesses looking to enter or expand in the Thai market. These institutions provide a range of services that include market analysis, legal and regulatory guidance, and networking opportunities with local businesses and government officials. For Spanish companies, these resources are instrumental in navigating the complex landscape of international trade and investment, offering crucial insights and support to ensure successful market entry and operation.

Global Presence and Industry Impact

This year’s fair also noted an increase in participation from Chinese companies compared to the previous year, signifying a shift in the regional dynamics. Additionally, the Spanish Pavilion has grown in terms of participant numbers and visibility compared to the last edition, reinforcing its growing importance and impact within the global packaging sector.

Propak Asia 2024 was not just about showcasing technology but also about fostering significant business engagements and partnerships. The Spanish Pavilion, with its vibrant exchange of ideas and formation of new relationships, left a strong impression of innovation, quality, and commitment to excellence, underscoring Spain’s pivotal role in driving the global packaging industry forward.
